4.0 Roles & Responsibilities
4.1 Job Despricption
As a campaign management intern under the marketing team, my role is not really fixed into doing one thing and instead it depends on what needs to be done at that particular moment. However, the campaign management team is basically responsible on what products needs to be pushed into selling and on how we should push it. Apart from that, we also take care of the analysis and execution of the campaigns that already took place and that will be taking place.
As for me, I have a few responsibilities that I will usually do daily. One of them includes requesting and creating codes. These codes are divided into two types: coupon and credit. Coupon codes are codes that have discounts, which means that customers will get discounts in the form of fixed amount or percentage when they apply these codes during checkout, while credit codes are codes that has monetary value, which means that customers will get cash in the form of store credit when they apply these codes into their account. In addition to that, employees from other departments are also able to request for codes creation, but only employees from the campaign management team are able to create them on their back-end website called BOB. Before creating any codes on their back-end website, we would always need to request it first on a Google Form that was created by one of our executives to act as a reference in case of any problems that might occur in the future. The most common ones would be changing the validity of a code or a group of codes, and to do this, we would need to track back the original request from Google Responses and change the validity to the new validity on both the Google Responses and on BOB. This is also required as the auditors would have to check whether our codes created and requested tallies or does not.
Moreover, I am also the one uploading existing and new items onto Zalora's website, either into a campaign or into their specific category. My campaign management executive will usually forward me a list of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) to be uploaded into a specific campaign. For example, we would usually have at least a sales campaign every week on our website, so the Business Analysts would be the one responsible in extracting the suitable SKUs that can be in the specific sales campaign. These SKUs will meet the requirements of my campaign management executive. Zalora use Microsoft Excel to upload anything onto BOB, and it must only be in Comma Seperated Values (CSVs) format.
Other than that, I am also responsible in picking products to be placed into a campaign or a category. For example, since Zalora was sponsoring the TV show How Do I Look Asia, I was the one that picked the items to be used each episodes, these items are also placed on Zalora's website for the viewers of the TV show to buy.
4.2 Reporting Line
There will usually be two campaign management interns at one time, and at the time being, there is me and Esther Lee, who has already been interning with Zalora for around 6 months now. Both of us get our instructions on doing a task directly from two of our campaign management executives, which is Lim Li Qing and Mohd Rahman, and we will always report to them directly once the task has been completed. Most of the tasks that we are assigned to are those that I have stated above, which are requesting and creating codes, importing and exporting products to and from the website, and placing or removing overlays for selected items.
Two of the campaign management executives will usually get instructions from the Head of Marketing, which is Kiriat Argenio, who has been in Zalora since the very start. Kiriat will usually be the one responsible in approving promotional and sales campaigns planned and proposed by these two campaign management executives. Once approved, that is when these two executives will pass on the required task to be done to us.
Other than than, Kiriat also gets her instructions from Luca Barberis, which is the Managing Director for the marketing department, who will get his instruction from the Regional CEO, which is Michele Ferrario.
