6.0 Conclusion
As a conclusion, I am more than grateful to be given a chance to go for an internship for a duration of three months for my fifth semester of the Diploma in Business programme that I am currently pursuing at Taylor's University. This once in a lifetime opportunity had taught me a lot of things that I could not learn by going to classes or reading a book. It was definitely an eye-opener for me as it has widened my perspective on how I view things from now onwards.
Apart from that, I deeply believe that every single thing that I have learnt from this internship experience would somehow be very beneficial for my future career plans of being a businesswoman. I had gained various cognitive and non-cognitive skills by working for Zalora in a large and a structured business environment. One of the main examples of a cognitive skill that I have gained is that I have learned to be focused on doing and finishing my task as fast as I could, and learnt to put aside all the distractions I had to face as I had limited time in completing them. Another example is that I have also learned to multitask, which is doing more than one task at the same time, if we had a lot of things to be done with little manpower. Lastly, I had also learned to store and recall important information in my memory as I will have to use it when working.
On the other hand, some of the non-cognitive skills, or also known as soft skills, that I have gained from my internship experience are being able to communicate effectively with others, being able to solve problems and make sound decisions by myself, being able to manage my time efficiently, being able to work in a team and getting along with teammates, and also being able to motivate myself and others towards reaching our goals.
Therefore, by developing and improving all of these skills, I can definitely become a better businesswoman in the future. I had always been interested in e-commerce as I already have my own online business that sells beauty and fashion merchandise, which started right after I finished my secondary education back in 2013. So, who knows that by experiencing this internship with Zalora, it could help me do start up a proper online business one day and be as successful as Zalora too.
